PHA Internship Program
The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is an ever-growing organization that serves the pulmonary hypertension community. We are fairly unique in that we serve both medical professionals, and patients and their families. PHA’s internships span across a wide range of projects, programs and services for all of these constituencies, and we invite you to pursue your career interests through an internship experience with us.
Be part of the PHA team
Our goal is to provide you with an internship experience that will allow you to develop new skills that will aid you in your future career. We are not interested in providing you with hours of boring administrative work or asking you to fetch coffee for staff. Over the years, some of our interns have even joined us as full-time employees. PHA values its interns as contributing members of our team, and treats them as such.
As a respected team member you can expect to:
- Broaden your understanding of non-profit organizations and their management
- Hone your oral and written communication skills
- Play an active role in collaborations with staff, the PH community, and organizational allies
- Have the opportunity to participate in staff, patient, Board, and corporate meetings
“I wanted to be treated as a person, rather than a ‘lowly intern,’ and that is exactly how we were treated. I appreciate that PHA valued us as people and our opinions were important, and we were always included at meetings and events.”
- Kaitlyn, Summer 2009 Web Intern
When to join us
We accept internship applications on a rolling basis. While most internships tend to adhere to academic semesters, start and end dates are flexible. The availability of each internship varies every semester, so check back often to see what’s new.
Internship benefits
We will work with you to earn college or university credit for your PHA internship. We also offer our interns a transportation subsidy to defray the costs of getting to and from our office.
